Service Description

Our Mindfulness camp is all about equalizing the emotional, physical, and mental body in children. We focus on regulating the internal nervous system and develop right and left brained approaches through yoga stories, reading, and play to engage the right creative mind and help children innovate new ideas and solutions in coping with their external problems. Meditation and Yoga Workshop Saturday Morning 9 AM to 12 PM: Children, ages 5 to 11, are cognitively expanding every day and require exercise to stimulate their physical development. This yoga curriculum applies an overall theme and concept to story elements, partner work, and off-the-mat activities to help children carry mindful awareness of their physiology, learning domains, and anatomy as they relate to the external world into their everyday environments. Children explore new ways to move their bodies, breathe through difficult challenges, and relax to optimize their learning potential through the development of essential physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and academic skills. Each class will offer one challenging pose with modifications to give little yogis a goal to attain through their strength practice; however, each class is self-contained in that it does not advance from week to week, and merely encourages the child to explore more at home. Read Aloud and Craft Workshop Saturday Afternoon 1 PM to 4 PM: Reading is essential to verbalizing and expression. Children’s reading hour focuses on topics of mindfulness and connectivity with children in their day-to-day experiences and environments. Mindfulness is learning a language of self-regulation. Children can explore new and fun ways to express themselves by hearing a newly selected book read out loud every week by our instructor, followed by group discussion to help your child open doorways to empathy, acceptance, and inclusion for themselves and others. In the latter half of the class, children will create a craft that integrates the take-away themes from the read aloud workshop that they can then take home with them as a reminder to be present. Bows and Beanies Workshop Sunday Afternoon 1 PM to 4 PM: This craft workshop is a themed fashion-based class for young girls and boys. There will be options to fashion their own hair barrettes with ribbons and clips, glue, and other decorations, or to pick and cut stenciled fabric appliques to apply with heat to winter beanies. There is no limit to the individual expression here!
